Description: 
The students will use discarded maps to make their own unique envelopes - "enviro-lopes."
Goals: 
To make students think about reusing items in an effort to be more environmentally conscious and aware of how their actions today affect their future.
Objectives: 
Students will make one or more envelopes in a manner suitable for actual mailing.
Educational Resources: 
Discarded maps or magazines with colorful pages of a heavy weight (covers from Sports Illustrated, slick pages from flower catalogs, etc.), scissors, templates for envelopes, glue sticks, adhesive address labels

Activity Plan: 
Discuss the 3 Rs of the environment and how we can take items that are no longer needed or being used and use them in a different manner -- reuse them. The students will trace the outline of an opened envelope onto the map, cut it out, fold it, glue the endges, and attach ad adhesive address label to it.

Students will be able to explain how making this "enviro-lope" is an example of one of the 3 Rs of the environment. The students will be able to give other examples of reusing, reducing, and recycling and explain how their activities help the environment.
