Description:
Each student will make their own snowflake, decorate it with their name in the middle, and every student from the rest of the class will put a positive comment about their classmate on the snowflake.
Goals:
For students to see that not one of us are alike (no snowflake is the same) but yet we all have qualities that are positives to others.
Objectives:
Students will design their own snowflake with one sheet of paper and a pair of scissors. The snowflake will then be personalized with their name and passed throughout the classroom for positive comments from all of their classmates.
Educational Resources:
Colorful paper-copy, construction, cardstock etc.
One pair of scissors for each student
Markers, crayons, pencils/pens (to decorate and write comment
Reference Materials:
Background information on snowflakes: ie: how they are formed, not one is alike another etc.
Activity Plan:
1. Describe the background info on the snowflake
2. Explain where supplies are and how you want your class to obtain their materials.
3. Students then create their own snowflake, including writing their name in the center to personalize it.
4. Snowflakes are then circulated around the room to every other student who will "colorfully" decorate a positive comment about that particular classmate.
5. Students will be able to retreive their snowflake after all comments have been written.
6. If time, or a follow up class, have the students share a few comments of what was written on their snowflake. This helps with everyones self-esteem!

Assessment:
Snowflake was done correctly, following all directions. Students participated on ALL other students snowflakes writing a positive comment to each.
Teacher will make assessment and give points/grade as necessary.
